Chapter 18: Last Battles

Exiting from the Daikoku Junction, Daiki’s Honda HSV-010 was in the lead, when Mitsuhashi’s turbocharged Lexus LFA was behind. With the Lexus LFA being on slight oversteer, Daiki reached the Bayshore Route without any mess, using the advantage of the naturally-aspirated V10 engine.

“I must concentrate on this car’s stability. The straight road is easy but not as easy as you think.” Mitsuhashi uttered.

The Lexus then gained the rear-wheel grip after entering the straight. The turbocharged LFA then gained its speed substantially.

“With the NA V10 engine, I can reach 350km/h as I can!” Daiki uttered.

As the two cars are getting into the 300km/h, Mitsuhashi’s LFA gained an advantage, closing the gap behind the Daiki’s HSV-010. Well, the speeds of two cars are having difference of 10km/h. The fierce turbocharged 1LR-GUE engine provided more torque than what the HR10EG can provide.

The Buneary’s Honda was well-tuned, at 750HP for this battle. The lighter body provides better handling, but this compromised its torque so Mitsuhashi would have an only chance – torque – to outgun Daiki. The Minun’s Lexus isn’t hard to drive either. It’s a rear-wheel-drive V10 too.

A fierce battle between the two V10, RWD cars began on the Bayshore Route. Trespassing the traffic, the two run in cat-and-mouse form, also known as “Tsuiso” (chase run), on the straight.

As the slipstream chase run battle begins, Mitsuhashi starts slipstream behind the trucks. The speed gains as Mitsuhashi getting close between the gap.

Daiki uttered “How fast could he is, he would eventually spin out. This is a strategic race. I can win this race.” His tachometer is pushing towards redline, trying to achieve the top speed as high as possible.

However, the gap is now even smaller. With the LFA’s high torque and narrow body, Mitsuhashi has reached behind the Honda HSV-010. He is preparing to overtake Daiki.

The Buneary tried to block the Minun from overtaking, but he’s still unsuccessful. Getting overtaken by Mitsuhashi, Daiki tries to counter-steer his car, again to block him from overtaking. He loses the grip, and spinned his HSV-010 on the Bayshore Route, just nearby Haneda Airport.

Mitsuhashi Matsuda’s victory has costed Daiki Matoba a race, again. The Buneary is now in his raging mood.

“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ON ME? YOU JUST WANT TO WIN, NOT TO LOSE. I WILL PUT THIS RACE ON YOUR BAG!!!” Daiki enraged on his loss.

“Hmmm… No matter what good NA engines are, they never supersede the engines with force induction. High revs drain your fuel much more quickly. Well, it’s time to go.” Mitsuhashi uttered before left to Tokyo.

The LFA smoked into nowhere, leaving the defeated HSV-010 on the road. The arch enemy has been defeated, again.

10 days later after Mitsuhashi’s last battle in Japan, the blue Skyline was parked along the yellow LFA, at a parking area in Irohazaka.

Wataru Kondo looked at the silver DeLorean and the beige Mazda coming on.

“Senji and Junichi? I knew.” Wataru uttered.
“Hello, Wataru-kun!!!” Senji saluted, along with his younger twin brother, Misaki.
“It’s been quite a while.” Junichi added.

The Pichu saluted too. Mitsuhashi comes out, and talked with the four.

“How’re you today?” Mitsuhashi asked.
“Fine. It’s been here for a while. Time has long gone fast.” Senji added.
“Yeah. I heard you will be leaving to France. Don’t you?” Misaki asked Mitsuhashi.
“Yeah. I will.” Mitsuhashi added.
“Okay. Anything else?” Misaki added.
“Oh, Misaki-san! May I have lunch with you?” Wataru added.
“Okay, Wataru-kun.” Misaki added before turning to his older brother. “I will be leaving with Wataru-kun for lunch. I leave first.”
“Okay, brother.” Senji added, before turning his focus to Mitsuhashi.

Misaki and Wataru left the conversation first, and the two Eevee rides in the blue Nissan Skyline, with Wataru being the main driver as usual.

Upon entering the first hairpin, Wataru raises his e-brake as he presses on the brakes, he yanks the wheel and lets the rear slide. Misaki was amazed.

"Whoa!!! That's a cool drift!!!" He hollered out, getting the attention of the other bystanders. Never knewing the car was a 350GT-FOUR, he thought this was a usual drift rather than 4WD drift.

Back at the parking area, Junichi asked “Well, Mitsuhashi-san. What did you do there? Le Mans?”

Mitsuhashi added “Right! I will be leaving soon. I want to know some more foreign guys there!”

“When?” Junichi added.
“December.” Mitsuhashi has confirmed that before.
“Well. Hope you can go further on your carrer. Do your best!” Junichi added.
“Okay. You can go now.” Mitsuhashi replied.
“Bye.” Junichi left the conversation, and drove away his Mazda.

“So, do you have anything to say?” Mitsuhashi asked Senji.
“No.” Senji added confidently.
“Okay, see you!” Mitsuhashi leaves with his Lexus. Senji also leaves with his DeLorean as well.

After lunch, Wataru and Misaki proceed to a car repairing shop in Utsunomiya, and meet Nobuteru Hiyama and his Yamaha OX99-11 there. An old friend, Wataru saluted to Nobuteru by saying “Hi!” while raising his left arm.

“Hiya, Wataru-kun, what are you doing? Don’t get me…” Nobuteru was shocked.
“I’m just… Nice to meet you! Have something else?” Wataru asked.
“Nothing. It’s been quite a while. Wanna race your Skyline, Kondo?” Nobuteru asked.
“Well, I am in a good mood, so yes. At Motegi?” Wataru added.
“Hmmm… Yes. I will be there soon.” Nobuteru replied.
“Okay.” Wataru quoted.

Then, Misaki also joins the discussion.

“Hello, Nobu-san!” Misaki greeted.
“Misaki-kun.” Nobuteru added.
“Well, I have something to say.” Misaki asked.
“What?” Nobuteru asked.
“You will be racing at night, right? Well, there are some blind spots there. Be careful when driving. I will be leaving soon. See you tonight.” Misaki explained about this night race before leaving.
“Okay. Bye.” Nobuteru added.

At night, the two Eevee meet at the pit stop in Twin Ring Motegi, after parked the two cars into the pit. A red Yamaha OX99-11 and a blue Nissan Skyline.

“Let's do it. Just between us. You and me. One lap.” Nobuteru plotted out as he gives the call of their match's route, before entering his Yamaha.
“Okay. You start.” Wataru added. He then entered his Nissan V37 as well, and trails the OX99-11 from behind.
